Observers are surprised about Vietnam’s achievement of placing the country 12th placed out of 76 countries surpassing first world countries. The result was based on the performances of 15 year old students from different countries. Organized by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Vietnam’s ranking has been considered remarkable especially the country do not participate PISA testing.
The United States placed 28th while Australia placed 14th. These two countries were behind Vietnam in global rankings. According to OECD director Andreas Schleicher, Vietnam’s is eager to learn from first world countries such as improving the curriculum, leadership and investment in highly skilled teachers. Also, Vietnam students are benefiting from the government’s effort on developing the curriculum that can also be found in North America, European countries and other top performing countries.
Education, that include teachers is highly valued by Vietnamese people. Teachers are well respected in Vietnamese society as it gives professional development to young ones. Teacher in Vietnam provides positives learning attitudes and quality of education, this regard reflected in OECD test of top performing countries in education.
