Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a reputable qualification for those who wish to teach English as a foreign language.
To teach English as a foreign language in Vietnam or internationally, it is essential to have a TESOL qualification that is accredited by a certified authority. Certificate IV is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework so is therefore essentially backed by the Australian Government.
In Vietnam, Certificate IV is regarded as being equivalent to the CELTA qualification and is accepted by all language schools.
When taking the Certificate IV at IIBT you can expect:
- More than 100 contact hours with specialised instructor: With a focus on contemporary language teaching methodologies, classroom management, and planning.
- More than 6 hours of teaching practice in a classroom environment: This will take place in a classroom environment with real students. The teaching will be supervised and assessed by our instructors.
It is not essential to have English as your first language in order to take Certificate IV although a high level of English proficiency is necessary.
